The brief met a space problem
The Deloitte World Meeting required a substantial stage and technical operation inside a hotel ballroom with limited backstage space. The production needed room for several departments to work, while keeping technical access and the event build coordinated with security requirements.
The production went vertical
A two-level control-room structure behind the stage created working space within a compact footprint. Lighting, video playback, audio and camera control occupied the upper level. Master control, backup systems and patching sat below.
That arrangement made the relationships between departments a physical part of the design. Communication links, cable routes, power provision and access between levels all had to be considered together.
The project management context also included restricted working windows and coordination between production activity and security procedures. A workable stage design depended on a workable schedule around it.
What the approach made possible
The stacked control positions accommodated the different technical functions without requiring the conventional spread of backstage space. The solution addressed both the footprint of the equipment and the way the teams needed to work.
Production takeaway
When the floor plan is fixed, the answer may be a different arrangement of the production itself.
